New Ways Of Fighting Super Bugs In Hospitals

Researchers in Bradford are investigating the effects of humidity on hospital 'super bugs' using one of the largest known biological test chambers in the world. The Bradford Infection Group (BIG), based within the University of Bradford's Schools of Engineering, Design & Technology and Life Sciences, was recently awarded funding worth over £175,000 to investigate an alternative strategy for controlling hospital acquired infections. In addition to healthcare associated infections, MRSA can also infect people in the community at large, generally as skin infections that look like pimples or boils and can be swollen, painful and have draining pus. These skin infections often occur in otherwise healthy people.
